Either incompetent manager or intentionally deception. BTW, I spoke with manager on phone before going there. He’s the one who said they had “Tons” of them.
I reluctantly use this Staples, and fairly often, which pains me. Why? Because it runs like a typical big box national chain, completely indifferent to the human factor and individual attention. Almost always there is one cashier line open with a 6-8 customer wait. Meanwhile, store employees wander about, all wearing these ridiculous backpacks with a huge 10% off tag dangling behind. If there are 15 customers wishing to check out they will open a new register but in all cases there is wait time. I resent it. The copy center can be good or bad, depending on who takes care of you. Due to the frequency of employee turnover, often there are new kids still learning the ropes. Prices are competitive and that is the only reason I shop at Staples. That, and they put every other Mom & Pop stationery out of business. There is a Cartridge World nearby. I am going to look into their prices on printing ink. Anything to give someone else my business.
don't try calling them on the phone for the copy center. you'll be eligible for retirement by the time they answer. I was already on hold for 15 minutes when I decided to get into my car, drive down to staples I was calling, go up to the copy center, wait in line, then hang up the phone when it was my turn. I told the girl I was the customer on hold for over 45 minutes and all she said was "sorry" with a little laugh and smirk. I said they really need to get someone to answer a frigging phone if they are that busy. all I needed was an extra copy made of a spiral booklet that I had ordered that morning and I had to drive all the way down there to ask for that. totally ridiculous...
Avoid this store!
A dark dingy store that's depressing to be in. The light meter in my phone measured 29 fc in many aisles. Some of the dimmest areas are as low as 13 fc. Color temp was over 4000. Prices went up too. This was once a bright cheerful friendly store but not anymore. With each renovation it got worse but this is by far the worst yet. Even though I live close by I won't be shopping here much anymore.
Drove all the way to store after calling and confirmed they had Amazon Echo in stock for $79. They told me they have plenty. After driving there they told me they don’t stock that one and I would need to order online or buy $100 or $139 one from them.
Went in to get some photocopies. The person working in the copy area had her back to the counter and was listening to music on her headphones. After a few minutes she came over to the counter and for five minutes did not acknowledge my presence. Not even a "Hi I'll be with you in a minute". She kept messing around with the wire to her headset (apparently changing the song) and shuffling through some papers. I went to the UPS Store across the street, won't go back to Staples.
